If you have recently purchased a new or used car, you may be determined to keep it looking great. Driving a car that is clean and organized can help you feel less stressed and more at peace on the road. Afterall, who wants to get into a car that looks like a trash can? What if you forget about that milk the kids spilled on the interior carpets and weeks later you start to smell it? That new car smell will be gone! That’s why it’s important to follow these tips to keep your car clean.
Make a rule that “if you bring it in, you must take it out.” Make sure your kids understand that anything that comes into the car, must also be carried out of the car. This includes books, toys, cups and paper. If the kids insist on having food in the car, be sure to put it in spill proof cups and snack holders.
Keep a trash bag inside your car so when you need to throw something away, it goes in the bag and not on the seat or floor. Every time you stop to fill up for gas, throw anything that you have accumulated away.
Keep a small, hand held vacuum in the trunk of your car to clean up spills quickly. If you don’t clean it up when it happens, you may put it off and never get to it.
To take care of those stains that can get on your upholstery such as ketchup, ink or lipstick, keep a tube of white toothpaste and a cloth in your glove compartment. Gently rub the stain with just a dab of the toothpaste and then wipe with a damp cloth.
Keeping the exterior of your car clean is also important. Don’t let salt and dirt sit too long on your car. Run it through the car wash after you finish filling up at the gas station. Most gas stations have a quick drive through car wash and it will only take up a couple minutes of your time.
Follow these tips to keep your car clean and yourself happy and stress free.
